Dick Francis Mysteries – 3 complete movies
About this set
DICK FRANCIS, the son of a British jockey, grew up to be a champion
rider. Before retiring, he rode over 350 winners and was the Queen
Mother's first jockey for four seasons.
Francis was halfway through writing his autobiography, The Sport of
Queens, in 1957, when he had what seemed no more than a routine fall -he
had broken his collarbone 12 times and "no end of ribs" - and he was
advised by a specialist to retire. Not wanting to become a trainer,
Francis accepted an invitation to write six features for the Sunday
Express and stayed on as their racing correspondent for 16 years.
Sports writing led to mystery writing which has led to more than 40 Inter
national best sellers. Francis has been the recipient of the gold and silver
daggers from the British Crime Writers Association as well as multiple Edgar
Awards.
Ian McShane is a Scottish-English actor with a long career in British and American television and lm. He’s known for his roles as the title character in the BBC series “LOVEJOY,” Al
