The Adventures of Cheburashka & Friends These four stop-motion animation shorts are full of humour, wonderful music, charming characters, and - oddly enough - social commentary. Perfect for children and parents – an oasis of goodness in these troubled times.
Produced by Moscow’s award winning Soyuzmultfilm studio, these films have been so popular in Russia that Cheburashka became a household word, not unlike Mickey Mouse in the West, and the songs from the films are know by all Russian children.
Recently, Cheburashka became the official mascot of the Russian Olympic team and in 2001 the Japanese discovered Cheburashka and the series developed a cult following that swept across Asia and is now making its way through Europe and North America. The surprising popularity of the vintage Soviet cartoon led a division of TV Tokyo (“Pokemon”) to acquire remake rights in 2006. This will surely make Cheburashka a world wide phenomenon.
